Hallux valgus, commonly known as a bunion, is more frequently seen in women, especially with advancing age. This condition involves a deviation of the big toe towards the other toes, leading to a pronounced bony bump at the joint’s base. While the exact causes of hallux valgus deformity are not fully understood, the contributing factors are believed to be multifactorial, including increased pressure under the head of the first metatarsal.
